Updates on the MultiPlan Federal Hearings
If you joined us in our latest June Masterminds, you are familiar with the Multiplan investigation. If you couldn’t join us, here’s what you missed.
In Summary:
MultiPlan has been collaborating with numerous payors to standardize healthcare service prices, which has led to significant controversy and high-profile investigations.
Senator Amy Klobuchar has spearheaded Senate hearings to scrutinize MultiPlan’s facilitation of information exchange between major insurance competitors. Concurrently, the Department of Justice has launched an investigation into MultiPlan, resulting in a sharp drop in stock and potential delisting.
Federal antitrust lawsuits accuse MultiPlan of cartel-like price fixing, particularly impacting states like California, New York, and Illinois, just to name a few. These lawsuits allege illegal collusion among insurance companies to set fixed service rates, which is both criminally and civilly liable.
During our next ‘Masterminds’ discussion on Tuesday, July 9th, Matt Lavin will update us on the latest information regarding the federal hearing on Multiplan.
Thousands of healthcare providers are expected to join the class action lawsuit, seeking accountability and compensation for damages incurred from the alleged price-fixing practices.
If you have received any price payments from ANY payors, you can participate by providing confirmation of these payments. For more information or to join the class action, please contact Matt Lavin for assistance.
