Using NLP to Increase Sales and Improve Employee Morale at Your Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facility
Neuro-linguistic programming, or NLP, uses spoken and body language to change your thoughts and feelings, as well as the thoughts and feelings of others, in a predictable manner. It refers to how the mind and body communicate with each other and how people interact and respond impulsively or mindfully in a specific situation.
The technique helps facilitate effective communication by enabling people to be moved into emotional states that are receptive to information and helps to convey information in a way that is easy to understand.
In sales, NLP is based on creating a quick and meaningful relationship with the potential client by using specific words and actions to develop a bond. As a result, the potential client is more likely to be convinced to take the action you are suggesting.

How to use NLP in business
NLP can be applied to a number of aspects in business. If done correctly, it can help you develop relationships, work better in teams, encourage your employees, and gain more clients. Here is a list of ways you can implement NLP in your drug and alcohol treatment center:
Leadership
While NLP can help your team perform better overall, it can also help develop your leadership abilities. By being more connected with your employees, you can become a more effective communicator. People are often unaware of the assumptions they make in conversation and how those assumptions make other people feel. By focusing your communication efforts on making people feel more comfortable, happy, and motivated, you can help them become more committed to your facility and team. Your leadership abilities will also become more enhanced the more you can effectively communicate your vision and goals to others.
Sales and Negotiation
Positive negotiation situations typically follow a number of steps, including:
reassuring clients against doubt
reframing objections
sharing of a vision
setting out a positive course of action
encouraging people to follow that course
These actions are based on the idea you can first identify the state a person is in, and then shift their thinking to the desired state of agreement and approval.
Presentations
NLP teaches you how to reduce stress when public speaking by becoming comfortable in front of others and learning how your own emotional state can influence how your presentation is received. This involves a combination of spoken language and body language.
Staff communications
NLP addresses communication at many levels, including emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. It teaches you how to recognize powerful language patterns and non-verbal communication. This helps you communicate effectively and be more sensitive to others so you can accomplish your goals and empower your team.
Confidence
By learning the NLP techniques, you will gain confidence in your ability to communicate and connect with others. The techniques will help you master your emotions, remain calm in stressful situations, be motivated, communicate effectively, and change behaviour in yourself and others.
Three NLP tips for business
Here are three tips from the NLP approach you can implement right away to start seeing results:
Learn to speak the same language as your client- When interacting with a potential client, it is helpful to recognize their preferred communication style and mirror their actions to help encourage effective communication. Once you have identified their style, try to mirror the speaking style and body language so they can connect with you and understand the information you are trying to convey.
Use modal verbs- The words that you use while communicating with a potential client can have a large effect on their response to your offering. You can use modal verbs to indicate that something is possible, likely, obligated, or permitted. These include terms such as could, may, might, must, will, shall, should, would. These cause the person to reflect on their own state, which can then be influenced by the offering.
Different personality types tend to express themselves using the same kind of verbs. For example, dominant types use must and will in their speech, while thoughtful or supporter types often prefer using could and might. Assess the personality type of the person and adjust the verbs you use to help them feel more comfortable and focused on your offering.
Pacing and leading- The main idea for this technique is to condition a potential client to say yes to your offering by getting them to agree to minor points along the way. This is often reinforced by nodding if in person, which subconsciously triggers the other person to mirror the agreement. This creates conditions which makes it easier to continue to say yes when other offer is being made.
