Maximizing Impact: Optimizing Utilization Review and Length of Stay in Behavioral Health Treatment
Using Metrics, Payor Knowledge, and Process Expertise
As providers, it’s crucial to empower your team and partners to navigate insurance challenges by teaching payors how to collaborate with your facility and training your staff to advocate effectively for your organization and patients.
Join us on Tuesday, February 11th, with Linda Shulman, Director of Payor Relations and Advocacy at Hansei Solutions, for an insightful discussion on optimizing your Utilization Review and Length of Stay within your facility. The discussion will focus on:
Using metrics to drive informed decisions
Knowing your payors and building effective relationships
Understanding the process to streamline operations and improve outcomes
With over 40 years of experience as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and extensive expertise on the payor side with Anthem, Aetna, and Carelon, Linda will share her journey and innovative strategies for developing sustainable, outcome-driven care models.
Treat the treatment plan as a recipe for success. Shifting payors from adversaries to collaborators strengthens relationships by acknowledging their business priorities and the facility's goals.
This discussion will explore:
Using Metrics
Why UR and LOS Data Matter – Essential for recognizing trends, justifying care decisions, and improving patient outcomes.
Are you making LOS extensions based on emotion or evidence-based metrics?
Knowing Your Payors
Recognizing key decision-makers within payor organizations and fostering trust to enhance negotiation outcomes.
Gain insight into payor-specific trends and how they influence approval processes, denials, and overall care planning.
Understanding the Process
Ensure your UR team shares key findings with the broader team, maintaining transparency across departments for a unified UR and LOS strategy.
Know when to appeal denials and track key data for successful outcomes.
Together, we’ll demystify the process by sharing real-life examples that Hansei and our partner facilities have experienced firsthand. Whether you're a provider or industry stakeholder, this discussion offers actionable insights to improve behavioral health care quality and financial sustainability. We’ll see you on soon!
